Hey Nineteen

So it was my birthday a while back. I'm nineteen now and figured that I should have a theme song just like I did (way back?) when this blog was started and I was 17. So here it is:

Hey Nineteen
Steely Dan

Way back when
In sixty-seven
I was the dandy
Of gamma chi
Sweet things from boston
So young and willing
Moved down to scarsdale
Where the hell am i
Hey nineteen
No we cant dance together
No we cant talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

Hey nineteen
Thats retha franklin
She dont remember
The queen of soul
Its hard times befallen
The sole survivors
She thinks Im crazy
But Im just growing old

Hey nineteen
No we got nothing in common
No we cant talk at all
Please take me along
When you slide on down

The cuervo gold
The fine columbian
Make tonight a wonderful thing

No we cant dance together
No we cant talk at all

The End of an Era

Greetings and Hello,
As i sit here at my computer i can't help but feel a sense of both nostalgia and sadness for this, the eve of my departure to college. I find my self wanting to return to the days of old, were my biggest concern in life was whether to watch the power rangers of the ninja turtles (btw i choose Ninja Turtles). But i also find my self wanting and yearning for the adventures and challenges that lay before me, as I set out on my own. This world excites me and scares me, but i know that if i hold true to the teachings of my parents and of my faith i can and will overcome any obstacle that stands before me.

"I do not measure my success by where I stand today. No, I measure my success by were I’ve come from.
–Morpheus

The fact that i 'm going away doesn't mean i will stop with this blog, it just means that i will be less involved. But if you wish to know how i'm doing check out my School Blog at

Good luck to all of you in the future and may God be with you

A Very Special Offer

Recently we have realized that there is an opening for a friend in our traditional circle. Following the tradition of equality and diversity at Guilford College, we would prefer to find one male to fill the position. This would bring our group to 2 girls (Erica and I) and 2 guys (Harry and you?).

Finding friends can be difficult, so we have decided introduce an online ad for the 1 (million) readers of this blog. Hopefully a condensed version will appear in the Guilfordian. We feel that finding a friend with the following requirements will best complete our circle. First, of course, lets start with benefits of being in the circle:
1) Automatic say and consideration into any and all school-break/weekend trips.
2) Guarantee that at least one of the group members will eat in the “caf” with you.
3) The opportunity to stay in the room while any of the group members change clothes.
4) Dance parties!
5) We won't make fun of you
6) If you don't have a car, we have plenty
7) First access to our used books when we finish a class
8) Erica's grandma makes cheesecake
9) Target and Harris Teeter trips galore
10) Of course, there is always something going on!
...and there are so many more, this is just a glimpse!!

Now, of course any applicants will be interviewed, however only the highly qualified applicant will be accepted. Bonus points go to anyone who reads this blog as they are totally cool and will already have some previous knowledge of what being in the group involves. It is extremely important that the soon to be friend attends Guilford College and lives on campus. This makes eating meals and late night "studying" much more convenient. As said above, we would prefer a male friend to keep the group equal, however, to keep me from dating this new friend we would prefer a gay male. While these qualities rank high on our list, there are other qualities that would help:
1) Having a job (especially one that might provide us with discounts and/or fodder for our jokes)
2) Living in a cool place that we could all visit (ie: Hawaii)
3) Enjoys pets
4) Shares a love for junk food, late night cheese dip, and teriyaki anything
5) Enjoys dancing (at least in the privacy of the dorm room if not in front of car headlights near Friendly Ave.)
6) Doesn't mind showering or at least being in the bathroom while another group member showers (helps protect from ghosts)

As you can see, there are so many benefits and only a few requirements. This is a totally cool deal and all those who are lucky enough to meet the base requirements should apply. Facebook profiles are acceptable resumes.

Sailed On

I wanted to go out and do something tonight. Guess I should be use to staying in and not hearing from anyone, but every once and a while it gets to me. I seem to fall into ruts, and this could be one of them.

I'm stuck at home thinking about the normal things with not much to do and not many people around.

But then again, thats not true. I mean, check out that sexy picture above of me at the Leonard's on Sunday.

It's just one of those nights, you know? I actually didn't even feel like writing anything, I just haven't in a while so I felt obligated. Sorry for complaining, I think I just want to be held.

Part of a totally cool song (and it was a free download!):
"Like two ships passing in the night, we're gone

Only the moon and th stars in the sky did know
to cry for me
As I sailed on"

11 days till Pfeiffer

Well people it is now official, my summer job is over and "I feel great". I'm now to the point where i guess you could say that im scared outta my mind because i'm going to school and have no idea how it's gonna shake out. However, everyone around me keeps telling me not to worry and to look forward to the coming freedoms that await and to embrace them with open arms. Ok i'll do that but, i also plan on exercising a little bit of control while at school and not embrace "all" of my freedoms. other than that i have nothing eles to say.

Oh wait i have a favor to ask of you all, please from now on i wish to be addressed as Josh instead of Jenkinz. I ask this for two reasons,
One: i'm no longer in high school and therefor i don't need a silly nickname to be reconized.
Two: The name Jenkinz has become somewhat of a stigmatism for me and carries with it many painful and not so happy memories, so i wish to bury it along with the past it's associated with. Ok now thats really all i gotta say.
