Get Ready, Get Set, GO!

So tomorrow is prom. Yep, that means all the hard work I have put into it will all be over in a mere 4 hours. Well, I guess it is longer than that, with all the pictures we have to take...and the going out to dinner part.

Oh, and those memories I will have for the rest of my life.

In all seriousness, I am really excited and I'm sure I will have as much fun as last year (which was tons). It is, though, a lot of work.

See, boys just don't understand. Sure a tux is expensive to rent, probably as much as a dress but you don't get to keep it. And the guy is probably paying for dinner...but they get to sleep in late that morning. The girls, now there is some work. Lets take my schedule for example: At 9am I must be at my nail appointment for a pedicure and a manicure. Sort break till 1:30 when I go get my hair done. The last thing is makeup at 3:30. Run home, put on that dress that I spent a few hours picking out, and be ready just in time for my date to show up for pictures.

And then their is the dress. Ah, the dress that was perfect when I bought it suddenly didn't fit this week. When we bought this dress both my mom and I were excited about the fact that it wouldn't have to be shortened because it was a petite. No, I didn't grow. Something shrank. Inexplicably, the halter strap was suddenly too long. The strap wasn't just any strap either, it is a sheer/mesh material. My mom and I, being the sewing gurus that we are, had no clue if we could sew this material or not. Thank goodness Mrs. Frazier, my Advanced Foods and pervious Apparel teacher, was there to fix it. Mrs. Frazier, if you are reading this (haha), THANK YOU SO MUCH! She pinned and shortened the strap for me so now it fits like I (and everyone else) wants it to.

So now that everything is in place, i.e. my dress and appointments, tomorrow should be a relaxing, fun day, right? Lets hope so. At least I don't have to do my own hair (ponytails are dressy, right?), makeup, and nails. And I just love seeing everyone dressed up. All your teachers and classmates look nice, and you feel pretty as well. I'm looking forward to dinner too, and spending the night at a friends house. Then it is back to "slumpy-Monday," the Monday after prom where, at least in comparison, no one looks nice.

I am looking forward to the getting ready part, actually. Except for that waking up early thing.

See some of you at prom!

Ha! I had all of that lined up too and I thought it would be relaxing just getting ready all day long.

Nuh-uh.

My aunt was doing my nails and she's still in nail school so it took her three hours. I didn't get home until 12:30pm and that gave me and hour and a half before my hair appointment---I hadn't taken a shower or eaten lunch yet! But after my hair was done everything went smoothly....until we were on the way to his house and realized I'd forgotten my ID.

Anyways, it was fun and you looked awesome, Emily!
