The Slacker That I Am

I really did mean to write something earlier today, but I had to work unexpectedly. And then I had homework for English that I hadn't done (or started) yet. See, Friday and Saturday I spent at Guilford College for "Spring into Guilford" orientation. It was really nice to say the least. I am so excited about going there next year. There were all types of people there and everyone was so friendly. It wasn't hard to talk to anyone and I met people from all over (Connecticut, New York, New Mexico, Utah). I only met one perspective student from North Carolina, and she happened to be from Central Davidson High School. It was awesome to be in a place where everyone was friendly with everyone and no one was left out.

Friday I went by myself, but Saturday my dad went with me. The longer he stayed there, the less he liked it. But he has realized that is where I am going, and I like it there, so I think he will be ok. The first thing that bothered him was Guilford's sorry football stadium. I don't play football, so I wasn't too concerned (although, I wouldn't go to a school without football). My father became a bit worried with the liberalness of the school, but maybe he will work through it.

I took placement testing on Saturday morning. I placed out of math for my liberal arts requirement, but I will still have to take a math for my major in Education studies. Another think I learned is that I will be double majoring in Education studies and another subject (History?). Guilford requires this of all education majors. I, unfortunately didn't place out of Spanish. So I will be taking Spanish 101, Developmental Psyc, an English, and an First Year Experience (F.Y.E.) course. For my FYE course, my first choice is "I Read It In a Book: On Truth and Knowing" it's about the influence books and media have on people (incase anyone wants to know, my second choice is simply "Global Issues"). Hopefully, I will get my first choice. If I do, I won't have any Friday classes (that's a good time for a job!).

Alright, I would love to tell you more (and I probably will) but it is late and I got school.

Josh has kinda disappeared from his blog...

Anyways, I enjoyed reading about your college experiences. I'm only a sophomore and already excited about college! I want to major in english and earn my doctorate and teach at a university. My top, most logical choice (you'll laugh at my illogical choice) is N.C. State University, Carolina for graduate school (I can't bring myself to march in Carolina blue).

The only reason I would care about the football stadium is for marching purposes...in which case, I doubt Guildford has a marching band (but I don't know). Good luck next year! It sounds like you're really excited!

Infact, they don't have a marching band. They do have a pep band, but they don't travel with the team.

And Josh might be the one I should call a slacker, isn't it? He isn't even motivated enough to post about Jesus Christ Superstar. Josh, if you are out there, please post something interesting (atleast), if not entertaining.

Number 1: Josh, you ARE a slacker! Get on the ball already (just don't fall off--lol Meg)
Number 2: This is kinda weird, Emily, but I also want to major in Education and History. The only difference is that at the colleges I've checked out, they offer you a specific major of Secondary Education in History. So yea, interesting...
