Shake, Shake, Shake--Shake your Booty!

Ok, so it wasn't quite like that, but I did just get back home from my first experience with Contra-Dancing. According to Dictonary.com it's "a type of folk dance in which couples are arranged in sets or face one another in a line." Basically, it's a dance you don't need much skill for (because if that wasn't the case, heaven knows I wouldn't be there). They call out what to do during the dance and you even practice it a few times before-hand.

I went with a pretty big group of high schoolers from Mooresville, NC. My friend, Anna, lives there and this morning she called and asked if my mom and I would like to go. They drove about a hour and twenty minutes to get there, but it was only a 40 minute drive from my house.

It was tons of fun and everyone should try it. There is a dance almost every Friday night, you just have to find it. I really think some people from school should get together and all go out dancing one night. You might think it would be weird, but you dance with everyone! You change partners each song and you dance with your neighbors (and everyone rotates so you dance with all your neighbors). Tons of fun! Hey NDHS, when are we gonna go?

The good thing is, next weekend I have
College Orientation and on Friday night they are having contra-dancing. That might be even more fun because I will get to dance with more people my age. I danced with some high school guys tonight, but let me tell ya....the old men were forming a line.

Well, it is late enough, and my feet hurt (did I mention it is great exercise and you get to dress up?). It's time for bed.

PS--It's almost time, don't forget to change those clocks!
